Fashion Cares is a nonprofit organization created and organized by high school students that provides a platform for young designers in Houston to showcase their work while raising money for charitable causes. The organization was founded in 2011 by Jackie Luo, a junior at Bellaire High School at the time, in an effort to bring together the brightest young talent in the Houston area.

Jackie Luo is currently the executive director of Fashion Cares, along with Mimi Shou, sponsorship director, and Mary Elizabeth Heard, assistant sponsorship director, who both go to Episcopal High School.

Last year, Fashion Cares raised more than $12,000 at Paint It Red. The show included fifteen designers and more than sixty models from schools around Houston (such as Bellaire High School, Episcopal High School, Lamar High School, St. John’s School, St. Agnes Academy, and the High School for Performing and Visual Arts). The show was organized by Jackie Luo, producer, Mimi Shou, co-producer, and Katie Blake and Amanda Taylor, publicity directors.
